Touring Spain, what you might expect

Spain, as a country, has been around for centuries, a great exploring nation that has incorporated much of the culture that was imported to the country from nations it has visited to provide a rich tapestry that needs to be experienced to be believed.

  • One of the biggest attractions in Spain is the Flamenco while many know it as a dance it is so much more. It is the ultimate expression of passion, when you witness the dance it is a performance that has singing, up-tempo guitar playing, full of romance and brilliantly colored costumes. Spaniards describe Flamenco as a state of mind that is a deep emotional expression from the performers' hearts who will entertain the traveler with the dance. When you see the show, the connection you will feel with the performers is unlike anything you have ever experienced and it will leave a lifelong impression upon you.
  • Bullfighting to a Spaniard is the same a hockey to a Canadian – apart from soccer – it is their national sport that attracts many locals and visitors to the stadiums where the events are staged. The bullfighting season runs from April through September and many towns have bullfighting festivals that run for a week or two. If are visiting the country, chances are you can see a bullfight any day of the week. When you visit Spain, you must go to Pamplona in July for the Pamplona Running of the Bulls that is part of the San Fermin Festival.
  • Another sports passion that the Spanish hold near and dear to their hearts is football – also known as soccer. Many visitors will want to take in a game in Madrid to see Real Madrid – one of the world’s most successful soccer clubs in action. The stadium is always packed with supporters who live and die on every play and the Spanish take their soccer as seriously as a Canadian takes his hockey interest.
  • If you need a down day from all the adrenalin-related activities, Spain has many UNESCO sites to visit that hold many secrets that can be unlocked with a visit to one of the many sites like the cities of Cordoba, Granada or Toledo. Santiago de Compostela is a shrine to St. James that is a must see as is the town of Avila that is a fortified city that dates back centuries.
  • History is on display when you visit the caves of Altamira in Northern Spain. The 17 caves have ancient artwork on the walls of the caves that dates back more than 35,000 years BC. If archaeology isn’t for you but you might want to see some of the art that Spain is famous for – the works of Dali and Picasso hang in Reine Sofia National Art Museum, the Prado Museum and the Museo Guggenheim.

One thing to remember when touring Spain, temperatures is decidedly summery – the temperature fluctuates between 64F-85F, so pack accordingly for your visit.

Testimonials

We recently returned from a IBMT Tour for our son’s Bar Mitzvah and we all agree that it was the best vacation that we have taken to date.  The tour was well organized and the staff were friendly and very knowledgeable.  The events that they include in the tour include everything “must see” in Israel and activities that will make you laugh, cry, and everything in between.  The tour allows for activities for all ages and accommodates anyone who wants to do more or less than they have planned.  It is ...

Michael Rodney, Toronto, Canada

To Ornan and  IBMT Tours staff,

We just got back from tour with IBMT for our Bat Mitzvah Tour in Israel.

We are so glad we have chosen the right company for our tour as I can’t express my words of how wonderful this tour company was, starting before we left, the personal service they showed here back home and later the service in Israel with our great tour guide Natalie who was so informative on every place we went and what we saw. It was so wonderful to listen to a ...

Dear Sheryl,

The visit to Israel was better than advertised. All of us had an awesome and inspiring vacation or as I call it, an education. Danny is one of the nicest and smartest men I have had the pleasure of meeting. He made the trip so special and I cannot imagine any other person showing us Israel but Danny.

Hotels were great but for Eilat, but no big deal. Food in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv restaurants were delicious. Sheila in Tel Aviv was extraordinary. Dinners at hotels just “so so”. Loved Mitzpe ...

Craig Savage,

Ornan,

Thank you very much for the IBMT Bat Mitzvah tour we just completed.  We had a fabulous time & there were lots of special little parts from the tour that contributed to that.  The different experiences for dinner were very special, and I liked the variety of different types of sites/attractions.  Our tour guide Natalie was excellent, and I heard good things from the other group about their guide Liat.

Thanks again

9 Days Holyland Tour

Sara / Ornan,

I had a fabulous time on this tour and highly recommend it to anyone interested.  We had an especially knowledgeable guide with us Doron Hoffman who as a history major added so much more information and had a great demeanor.  I was part of an international group and made some new friends.

Regards,

Hi Ornan,

"Opting to celebrate our son's bar mitzvah this summer with IBMT is one of the best decisions we've ever made.  The itinerary took us to places around the country that I've never experienced on previous trips to Israel.  Experiencing our son's bar mitzvah atop Masada as opposed to a more rushed, crowded experience at the wall truly sets IBMT apart from other tour companies.  The professionalism of the IBMT staff both in North America and Israel was superb...everything was incredibly well organized and we were heartened ...
